Purchase dates within program requirements will be necessary to receive rebates. Rebates will be limited to one appliance per category per household only. This program, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, is designed to help consumers make the switch to Energy Star appliances which are generally 15-50 percent more efficient than standard appliances. Under Arizona’s program, eligible appliances will be Energy Star clothes washers, dishwashers and water heaters with rebates ranging from $75 to $425, depending on the purchase. |

![]() Glossary: MEF – Modified Energy Factor: a measure of energy efficiency that considers the energy used by the washer, the energy used to heat the water, and the energy used to run the dryer. The higher the MEF, the more energy efficient the clothes washer. WF – Water Factor: measures water efficiency in gallons of water consumed per cubic foot of capacity. The lower the WF, the more water efficient the clothes washer. kWh – Kilowatt Hour: a unit of energy equal to 3.6 megajoules. The most common use of the unit is when energy is delivered by electric utilities to consumers. EF – Energy Factor: the ratio of useful energy output from the water heater to the total amount of energy delivered to the water heater. EF is a metric used to compare relative efficiencies of water heaters. The higher the EF is, the more efficient the water heater. EF is determined by the DOE test procedure, Code of Federal Regulations, Title 10, Section 430. |
